Dr. Olivo's educational background includes a bachelor's degree in Biophysics and a master's degree in Bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania completed by the age of 22.
He was accepted into the PhD program at the University of Pennsylvania in Bioengineering but opted to pursue a medical degree and completed the four years of education from Saint George’s University School of Medicine in 1984.
He completed a three-year residency in Internal Medicine and returned to South Jersey in 1987 to practice medicine and was an Attending Physician at the West Jersey Hospital System (which is now the Virtua Health System).
He completed a three-year residency in Dermatology at Hahnemann Hospital in Philadelphia which included serving as chief resident in 1990.
Upon the completion of the residency, he became board certified by the American Board of Dermatology and has subsequently passed the recertification exams in 1999, 2009, and 2019.
In addition to demonstrating academic excellence in general dermatology, he has also passed the recently instituted board certification for Mohs surgery (a specialized technique for the removal of skin cancer) offered by the American Board of Dermatology.
He has published clinical articles and a chapter in a dermatology textbook, and has been a Spokesperson for the American Academy of Dermatology and most recently was an invited speaker on the WWDB radio show discussing topics of importance to the general public.
He has over three decades of clinical experience in both general dermatology, surgical dermatology with reconstructive surgery and cosmetic procedures. He also has a particular interest in the skin presentations of diseases that effect internal organs.
He is honored to have enthusiastic and very bright staff and constantly encourages an educational environment which benefits the patients in the office setting.
When time allows, his hobbies include hiking, scuba diving, flying as well as painting and drawing. Several of his paintings and drawings are on display in the office in Haddon Township.
